We finally made it, after 1.5 years. Both, Shenhua and SIPG have eluded me and always had away games when we would have had time to go. But yhanks to Michis new colleagues at the consulate (highly skilled, as they managed after two weeks what i have not managed in 1.5 years) we got to watch SIPG FC agaist Hubei. Best view in town – Cathay Room Brunch
Cathay is an anglicism of the old word for China, Qidan. Cathay Room is the name of one of Shanghais best brunch places. Located on the 9th floor of the Fairmont Peace Hotel, the Cathay Room overlooks the Lujiazui Skyline. This morning, we are almost by ourselves; at the best table in the house. Xiamen – A rainy weekend
Fujian Province was still a white spot on our China Map. With the cold and wet season approaching in Shanghai, we decided on a weekend trip to warmer regions; to Xiamen.
Abandoned Dutch town in Waigauqiao
Where do you look for typical hanseatic architecture and windmills? Of course, in Shanghai’s Waigaoqiao district, where else. On 20.11., we packed our cheese sandwiches (actually no, but would have been a good stereotype), borrowed a bike (actually yes) and rode around the deserted streets.
Disneyland Shanghai – One week after opening
We visited Disneyland Shanghai one week after opening day. The opening has been a huge deal. Everybody has been talking about the first Disneyland in Mainland China. Since it was Michis lifelong dream to visit Disneyland, we were more than happy to go. Continue reading “Disneyland Shanghai – One week after opening”

Sailing in Dalian
We are stuck at parking position at Pudong Airport. Airplane doors cannot be opened, because the Air Condition is broke. Logic? That’s China!
We are on our way back from Dalian (a mid size town of 6mio and one of the big ports in China. PE Robert had invited us to the RC Dalian Charter (actually, I invited us to a day of sailing, the Charter came with it). Continue reading “Sailing in Dalian”
Huangpu River Cruise
Lazy weekend again. Yesterday, we had the most fantastic – no, THE best steak at Mortons in the IFC. 550g New York Strip for Michi and 650g Porterhouse Steak for me. What an experience (also the bill ;-)).
Today, we picked up Michis tailor made jeans and took a stroll along the Bund. I the spurr of the moment, we bought two tickets for the Shanghai River Cruise.
The ship took us 25 minutes downriver past the Cruise Terminal and then back. Unfortunately, we were hit by heavy winds and rain 5min after departure. But, we had paid for the VIP sun deck and we were not going to give it up… Continue reading “Huangpu River Cruise”
Relax in Shanghai
After 6(!) weeks of non stop action, we are on our second “free” weekend in Shanghai. Last QingMing weekend, we spend doing absolutely nothing (except churning through a few movies). Continue reading “Relax in Shanghai”
